Signs of age such as toning and the red enamel painting on the medal is patchy. Enclosed in the original hardcover envelope is the award certificate with original signature of President Wilhelm Pieck, and his wax stamp in red. This award was given to Heinz Abraham. Heinz Abraham was born on June 30, 1911 in Allenstein, East Prussia, and was a Jewish-German anti-fascist, historian and diplomat. During his emigration in the USSR, he worked, among other things, as an architect and construction manager in housing construction and industry, especially at the Soviet state project planning office Gorstroiprojekt. In the GDR, he took on the role of university lecturer in the history and politics of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) at the "Karl Marx" Party College of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1960 to 1964 he held the post of envoy of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) to the Soviet Union. Heinz Abraham died in Berlin on March 2, 1992.
