Prof. Dr. Rudolf Lemke, attr, Portrait Helmut Krause Portrait of a man reading a newspaper, thinly glazed, partially slightly impasto painting, oil on hardboard, circa 1950, unsigned, titled on the reverse "Portrait Helmut Krause" and modern label "Estate Rudolf Lemke - 1906 Gallow - Jena 1957 - Collection S. Lemke", beautifully framed in a shadow gap frame, picture dimensions approx. 48 x 27 cm. Artist info: actually Rudolf Hermann Lemke, German psychiatrist, neurologist, university lecturer as well as leisure painter and lithographer (1906 Gollnow to 1957 Jena), studied medicine at the universities of Jena, Vienna, Freiburg and Berlin, 1928 state examination, from 1934 part-time at the Erbgesundheitsgericht and Erbgesundheitsobergericht in Jena, from 1939 member of the NSDAP, during World War 2. During World War II, he was a physician in the nervous department of the military hospital in Jena; in 1940, he was appointed Medical Councillor; in 1942, he was appointed Professor.
