Note: Salvador Dali's Christ is also known as the "Christ of St. John of the Cross".
Inspired by Velazquez, his "mentor" in his own words, Dali did not want his Crist to be depicted on the Cross. Christ's suffering was not the most important subject for him, but he wished to show Christ's deliverance, showing that God was not frozen on a cross, but on the contrary everywhere and in every place. He also created a magnificent painting on the same theme, as well as a large sculpture measuring over 3 meters. "I did what was most beautiful, because it's about God".
