"TAZZA DEL FAUNO Monolithic circular bowl on a Sienna marble pedestal carved with a Faun's face in fine bas-relief in the cameo style. Signed E.C. on the reverse of the pedestal. Italy, probably Siena region, 17th century. Height: 8.5 cm - Diameter: 37 cm (Small chips, small missing pedestal, restoration). The difference in the treatment of the bowl and pedestal (unpolished) suggests a former mounting on a bronze base, which has now unfortunately disappeared.
