In the center, a lion drawn in Arabic letters, in black ink on a cardboard page, imploring Ali and surrounded by invocations of Imam Ali, also in Arabic. On the margins, around the edge, explicit texts in French give: a title "Iconogram and explanatory transcription of a lion drawn on a cardboard board, Algiers, after a drawing made on the original found in the Dez Palace", a note, a translation of the text into French, as well as keys to reading the Arabic figures.
