Description

CHINA - 18th century Important polychrome ink on silk, the king of the underworld (Yanmoluo Wang Zuntian ) standing holding his tablet, wearing a dark blue robe decorated in gold with two five-clawed dragons among clouds, the misses adorned seated with dragons in the clouds. He is depicted standing in the clouds, surrounded by three demons, one holding a four-tiered canopy above him, the second in a tiger skin holding a banner, the third in a green rob decorated in gold with dragons and flowers and holding scrolls. At top right, the partially faded title Yanmoluo Wang Zuntian. Signature lower right: Heshuo Zhuang Qinwang Faxin Chengzao (piously commissioned by Prince Zhuang) and followed by Prince Zhuang's seal. (Stains, missing parts, folds). Dim. 173 x 91.5 cm.
