APHRODITE anadyomene. Torso of marble statuette representing the famous Hellenistic statue of the nude goddess, emerging from the water and twisting her hair to dry it. The end of a braid is visible on the back of her right shoulder. Traces of red pigment between the thighs. Eastern Mediterranean, Hellenistic or Roman period (2nd c. BC - 1st c. AD). Missing arms, legs and head. H. 11.5 cm. For comparison, cf: - M.
