Description
Cartel and bracket in green horn veneered wood, with rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes and asymmetrical rocaille cartouches. Round enameled dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, signed LEVÊQUE in Paris. The violin-shaped sides are adorned with moving bronzes in rich rocaille clasps on the front and back, and supported by four ormolu whiplash feet. The front opens onto a purfling leaf adorned at the bottom with a rich asymmetrical rocaille nut, jagged clasps flanked by sprays of flowers. It is surmounted by a beautiful openwork rocaille clasp, winged and punctuated with flowers suggesting an astonishing movement. Antique movement in working order, to be overhauled. It rests on a console decorated with jagged and confronted clasps forming cartouches and rocaille nuts. Louis XV period. Height 136 cm. Width 48 cm. Depth 25 cm. Very good condition, usual old restorations, cracks in the horn veneer.
