Considered one of the masters of French portraiture at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, Largillière directed a workshop that included many great artists, including Jean-Baptiste Oudry and Joseph-André Cellony. Our model's face and attitude are typical of the work produced by Largillière and his pupils.
