FRANCISCO PAZOS MARTÍNEZ (1961, Meaño). Untitled. Wood sculpture. Unique piece. Signed. Measurements: 109 x 33,5 x 24,5 cm. Francisco Pazos entered, after completing his primary studies, the so-called "Escola de Canteiros". After training here as a sculptor, he returned to his native town, where he set up his workshop. From 1991 he combined his sculpture practice with teaching, working as a teacher in the same "Escola de Canteiros" where he had been trained. In 2000 he gave up teaching to devote himself fully to artistic practice. Throughout his career he has received several awards and grants, including the Novos Valores Grant awarded by the Pontevedra Biennial in 1983 and again in 1984; the Antón Fraguas Award, from the Diputación de A Coruña, in 2008 or the First Prize in the III Certamen Francisco Asorey, in 2016. His exhibition career began in 1983, in Pontevedra, and since then he has participated in numerous exhibitions, both individual and collective, in cities such as Pontevedra, Santiago, Vigo, Madrid, Marbella, Porto and Lisbon (Portugal), Bucharest (Romania), London (United Kingdom), among others. His work is kept in museums and collections such as the Museum of Pontevedra, the Collection of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, the Carlos Maside Museum of A Coruña, the Celtic Museum of Vigo, the University of Vigo, the Bernardo Quetglas collection in Mallorca, and others.
