A gifted landscape painter, Karl Hauk knows very well how to distinguish between his idyllic vacation views from his travels to Italy and Croatia and the depiction of the harsher Mühlviertel, to which the present work is dedicated. The figureless landscape shows a barely ending view over the typical, hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel. The brown hills in the foreground, are replaced in the background by blue mountains, whose peaks are covered with snow. The whole scenery is covered by almost mystical cloud mountains, which announce an approaching storm. Only a bright band of clouds on the horizon softens the view. A landscape shaped by wind and weather and preserved its originality - painted like a character study.
