View over Salzburg Oil on canvas 25 x 54,5 cm framed The late summer view over Salzburg to the south was created in 2001 as part of the competition "Salzburg in new views", which was initiated by the Neuhauser Kunstmühle. Based on an international call for entries, artists were selected by jury decision to move into studios at the Hohensalzburg Fortress for six weeks. Lehmpfuhl, today highly respected, was then still at the beginning of his career and immediately found an enthusiastic audience in Salzburg. An artistic examination of the cityscape was the theme. Not only the beautiful and less attractive sides of the cityscape, but above all the unique atmosphere of the studios in the Schüttkasten on the fortress formed a community united by common work and produced great works. Christopher Lehmpfuhl was one of the winners. The work was then also part of a special exhibition at the Neue Residenz in 2012. The work captivates with skillful impasto paint application that skillfully captures the light and creates a tangible depth. One of the few Austrian motifs by the artist. Provenance: Private collection Salzburg, acquired directly from the artist
