ATELIERS JEAN PROUVÉ BASED ON A BASE MODEL ORIGINALLY DESIGNED BY JEAN PROUVÉ (1901-1984) Stool with backrest, produced by Ateliers Jean Prouvé from [1954]. Two height-adjustable swivel work chairs. The quadripod bases are made of folded sheet steel and green stove-enamelled; each leg is finished with a circular metal glide. The central shafts are made up of two cylindrical parts in green-lacquered sheet steel, each with an internal screw thread system for height adjustment. The footrests are in curved lacquered sheet steel, each with an aluminum facing (missing); the cylindrical coat hooks are also in green lacquered sheet steel. Circular seats and slightly curved backrests in plywood; the backrests held in place by aluminum pastilles (two missing on one seat, one replaced on the other). The cylindrical backrest support arms are made of green lacquered sheet steel. Circa 1954. Used condition, major wear and tear to the green lacquer, stains, scratches and wear to the plywood parts, two original aluminum lozenges missing from one seat and one replaced on the other, aluminum bands missing from the footrests.
