ATELIERS JEAN PROUVÉ BASED ON A BASE MODEL ORIGINALLY DESIGNED BY JEAN PROUVÉ (1901-1984) Stool with backrest, produced by Ateliers Jean Prouvé from [1954]. Swivel and height-adjustable work chair. The four-legged base is made of folded sheet steel with a green lacquered finish; each leg is finished with a circular metal glide. The central shaft is made up of two cylindrical parts in green-lacquered sheet steel with an internal screw thread system for height adjustment. The footrest in curved lacquered steel with aluminum facing (missing); the cylindrical coat hook also in green lacquered sheet steel. Circular seat and slightly curved backrest in plywood; the backrest is held in place by aluminum inserts (missing and replaced). Cylindrical backrest support arm in green lacquered sheet steel. Circa 1954. Used condition, major wear and tear to the green lacquer, stains, scratches and wear to the plywood parts, missing original aluminum lozenges, missing aluminum band on footrest.
