#JEAN ROYÈRE (1902-1981) DESIGNER & GOUFFÉ ÉDITEUR Seating presented at the International Exhibition, Auberge du Centre Rural, Paris, 1937 Suite of four oak chairs, sometimes called Rustique or Maison rurale. The backs are in the shape of escutcheons, each with a recess forming a grip. The seats have arched backs and circular central recesses. The legs are turned and tapered. Our suite made in 1937. Used condition, accidents, missing parts, non-original reinforcement screws, cracks and restorations. One chair bears a lacunar label under the seat with the following printed remarks: Ameublement Décoration - Envoi de GOUFFÉ and handwritten notes, mostly faded. Height: 78 cm - Length: 42 cm - Depth: 41 cm Exhibition : Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques appliqués à la Vie Moderne, Auberge du Centre Rural, Paris, 1937 - Our chairs, as evidenced by the label Envoi de Gouffé on the underside of one of the chairs, were among the pieces presented at this event.
