ÉMILE-JACQUES RUHLMANN (1879-1933) Tibattant, first version with Fuseau legs (ref. Ruhlmann 1503 AR, 1605 NR), the model designed in [1913-1921], our piece of furniture made between 1918 and 1921, presented at the Ruhlmann exhibition, Casa de Serralves, Porto, 2009 Lady's writing desk in mahogany and Honduras mahogany veneer. The suspended body opens into a drawer with turned ivory handles (ref. Ruhlmann B5 AR) embellished with silk trimmings, and a flap with an oval motif in dotted ivory; the projecting top features wide flutes each holding a carved ivory ove (ref. Ruhlmann D2 AR). The Fuseau-type front legs each terminate in an ivory reception (ref. Ruhlmann BXV AR). The inner part of the flap and the theater, fitted with two drawers, a niche closing with a full door and a shelf, entirely sheathed in original green morocco underlined with gold filleting, the desk pad with gilded iron lattice motifs; the turned ivory knob-holders (ref. Ruhlmann B108 AR), one enriched with silk passementerie (ref. Ruhlmann AIII AR). Circa 1918-21. Restorations, trimmings not original. Hot-stamped RUHLMANN and numbered 1-21 on the heap on the back, with a non-original cold-stamped A workshop mark also on the back.
