École FRANÇAISE du XIXe siècle, suiveur de Carle VERNET

Exercise of Franconia n° 1 - Exercise of Franconia n° 2 Pair of drawings, pen and grey ink, watercolor. 33 x 45 cm One bears a Carle Vernet signature at the bottom left. Antoine Franconi (1738-1836), an Italian aristocrat who had settled in France in 1758, had acquired a great reputation in the field of horse training, which he practiced to a level rarely reached. Most of his family members worked with him, forming a troop of horsemen. They became famous in the field of acrobatics and in the Parisian circus, conquering a vast public. Our two compositions were engraved by Philibert Louis Debucourt.
