Gold snuffbox 750 thousandths of oval form, with enamelled green translucent decoration on bottom guilloche of waves and of a semis of pastilles in frames of clasps of foliage and pearls enamelled green and white opalin. The frame with rectangular cartridges enamelled in translucent green on a guilloche background of waves and pastilles alternating with pilasters decorated with clasps of leaves and pearls enamelled on a sandy background. The hinged lid, decorated in the center with a polychrome oval miniature on porcelain depicting The Abduction of Helen inspired by Guido Reni, reveals a secret compartment (small accidents). Goldsmith's hallmark of Georges-Antoine Croze (active 1777-1790), load hallmark of Henri Clavel, Paris, 1780, the border numbered 466. In 1781 he moved to rue Saint-Louis, where he remained until 1788, then to rue Filles-Saint-Thomas in 1790. He was one of the silversmiths who supplied the merchant-merchant Charles-Raymond Grancher at the small Dunkerque, quai de Conti.
