Vintage Papillona floor lamp by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Flos, 1970s In white lacquered metal, lamp head closed at the front and back by prismatic glass panels that diffuse and reflect the light. Dimmer integrated halfway up the lamp axis. 20th century, 1970. Dimensions: H: 191 cm Tobia Scarpa was born in Venice in 1935 and is the son of the renowned architect Carlo Scarpa. In the 1950s, Tobia Scarpa and his wife Afra began working with the famous glass company Venini in Murano. In 1960, the couple founded their own design office in Montebelluna, where they worked for renowned companies such as Flos, Cassina, B&B Italia and Knoll. Their work spans a variety of fields, from glass to furniture, lighting, interior and architectural design, and they have explored a variety of materials and emerging technologies. Their design aesthetic is definitely modern, emphasizing elegance and comfort.
