The set comprises two Russian porcelain dessert plates from the Kornilov Brothers factory, Russian Empire, St. Petersburg, circa 1903. The borders of the plates are adorned with ornaments after the original illustrations by Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942) for the publication, Russian Folk Tales, published by the Expedition of Procurement of State Papers in 1901-1903. The pattern is applied to the plates using the technology of overglaze polychrome printing. The borders are decorated with gilding. Marked with overglaze printing manufacturer's stamp on verso. Numbered 218 on the verso. Dimensions: D: 9 1/2 in., ( 24 cm.) Perfect.

Russian porcelain cup, saucer and two plates in Neo-Russian style decorated with red and blue hexagonal cartouches depicting different animals after the original illustrations by Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942) for the publication, Russian Folk Tales, published by the Expedition of Procurement of State Papers in 1901-1903. The pattern is applied to the plates using the technology of overglaze polychrome printing. The borders are decorated with gilding. Initiator of the opening of the first exhibition Bubnovy Valet or Jack of Diamonds, 1910, exhibitions Osliny Khvost or Donkey's Tail, 1912, Mishen' or Target, 1913, Futurists, Luchists, Primitives, 1914. The creator of the theory of Luchism - one of the first experiments in non-objective art. One of the leading artists of S. P. Diaghilev's enterprise. From 1919 he lived permanently in Paris.
