Empire gueridon table, Talleres Reales de Madrid, ca. 1810. Mahogany wood and gilded wood. Provenance: Infante Sebastián Gabriel. The marble shows breakage and consolidation. Provenance: private collection conceived since the 70's between London and Madrid. Measurements: 76,5 x 73 cm (diameter). Gueridon Empire manufactured in the Royal Workshops of Madrid, important centres for the production of high quality furniture and other luxury objects for the Spanish court and for international trade. It is a piece of furniture with a structure in mahogany wood and gilded wood for its decorative details, finely carved and defined in the style of the Empire style. It has a circular base raised on spherical legs, above which rises a central moulded shaft and three stipe legs. The latter, with a prismatic section, are decorated at the top with Egyptian sphinx heads, an aspect characteristic of the Empire style. The waist is decorated with palmette motifs of classical inspiration, typical of Empire furniture. The white marble top is characterised by its beautifully veined surface.
