Description
Large microscope, so-called reflection microscope (illumination mirror), gold-plated. The fast movement, as well as the slow movement controlled by a rear screw, is obtained by two flat rules sliding one on the other and maintained vertical by two loops; it is the mode adapted for all PASSEMANT microscopes. The stage is equipped with a spring-loaded specimen holder and an illuminating magnifier. On the circumference of the base, we read Passemant, engineer of the king, in the Louvre, in Paris. The whole is mounted on a rosewood base, whose drawer contains the spare lenses and various accessories. It is probably around 1755 that this microscope was built. In its case. Louis XV period (accidents, missing parts, broken mirror) Claude Siméon PASSEMANT (1702-1769), engineer, mechanic and optician, guided by Le ROY and CASSINI made many and very diverse instruments.
