GABRIELLE VINCENT

GABRIELLE VINCENT ERNEST AND CELESTINE Le Patchwork, Éditions Duculot 1982 Le Patchwork, original illustration. Watercolor on paper 18.5 × 18 cm (7.28 × 7.09 in.) Another one of Célestine's rich ideas: she forced Ernest to bring in huge fabric samples from the street, ready to be thrown away in front of a fabric store, and here they are, sewing the bedspread of the century. Recycling, salvaging, upcycling - our two friends were ahead of their time, long before it became a fashion trend. Gabrielle Vincent herself lived like this; in her house on Place du Châtelain in Brussels, anyone who has ever been there will remember the bric-a-brac décor, and the miracles of decoration made from little, with furniture found at the "Petits riens", elements salvaged from the street, crockery bought at the market; everything is mismatched, nothing is new, and everything is beautiful in its own way, creating an incredible atmosphere.
