BAR2 JOE BAR TEAM Volume 5, Vents d'Ouest, 2003 Original plate no. 21. The car in boxes 1 and 2 is a reproduction of the one drawn in box 3, affixed to the original. Signed. India ink and white gouache on paper 35 × 47.4 cm (13.78 × 18.66 in.) "WAAAROOOO"... At the crosswalk, a furious roar - that of Édouard's motorcycle - startles a lovely young woman crossing the street in front of the man with the Honda. But, as in one of La Fontaine's fables, the next second, Édouard is startled by the thundering roar of a huge diesel close by. And the muscular trucker's tender greeting, smiling concupiscently at him, makes his blood run cold. In addition to the comic effectiveness of this wordless story, Bar2's attention to detail and the accuracy of his characters' movements - those of the passer-by, from behind, striding firmly across the crosswalk, and even the outline of the "BROM BROM", which Bar2, in his passion for beautiful pen strokes, has outlined not with a thick, easy brushstroke, but with a multitude of tiny hatchings. It's fussy and nitpicky, you may say. No, generosity, quite simply.
