This folio comes from an unidentified French missal and has a numbering reference (f. 263 in the manuscript, old foliotation in Roman numerals in the upper margin). The historiated initial R depicts an Annunciation introducing the Feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin in the Temporal cycle (March 25). Given the richness and care of the borders, this must have been commissioned by an important prelate or patron.
