EXCEPTIONAL PAIR OF CASSOLETTES POTS-POURRIS in the shape of Athenians of the Napoleon III period in gilt bronze and red and green porphyry, the upper part decorated with nymphs playing Aulos, the lid with openwork decoration of palmettes and pine cone grip, the three-lobed base with griffins, resting on toupie feet decorated with interlaced water leaves. H. 44,5 cm (Small chips and restorations to the lid of one, 6 removable aulos, some slightly deformed) After the model attributed to Pierre-Philippe THOMIRE, preserved and exhibited in the Louvre Museum, inventory number OA 5505 1. This vase made around 1785 was acquired by Madame du Barry in 1792.
