Abdul Mejid

Abdul Mejid (1839-1861) : rare and important gilt bronze medal issued in honor of the Sultan, richly and finely chased on all sides. On the obverse : the fortress of Chios beaten by the waves and designated the Empire will remain God willing, dated 1850, signed Hart. F. Brussels (Laurent-Joseph Hart 1810-1860). The reverse side decorated with trophies of arms carries the names of the principal predecessors of the Sultan: Mahomet II - Osman - Tanzimat / Réchid - Aali - Soliman - Mahmoud - Cupruli and the inscriptions: Regeneration of the Empire of Osman by Abdul Medjid, as well as in six oval cartridges on the circumference: Equal justice for all - Protection to the weak - The dignity of the Empire revealed - The rights of the hospitality maintained - The arts of peace encouraged - The instruction spread; - Ø 10 cm .
