It is attributed to William Jacobson, owner of the Akaroa Mail publishing house, which he inherited after the death of his father in 1910. It contains details on the history of the Maoris, on Captain George Hempelman, on the French colonization of Akaroa, on whaling, on eminent personalities of the 19th century, on sawmills, etc. Minor wear to the binding, otherwise a good copy, complete with 15 plates including historical photographic views. Old owner's note on the flyleaf.
