The author, who remains anonymous, is mentioned at the bottom of the title page as "B.F.D.B, enemy of the English". There are details on the "reign" of Father Prittchard and his influence on Queen Pomaré. The sub-title gives some crisp details on the content of this writing: Tahitian religion à la Prittchart I. Their joyful life - Their love affairs - Their excesses in brandy and tobacco - Their way of governing the natives following the example of Prittchard who is at the same time king, consul, judge, priest, pope ....". The story is enriched with "a few words about my commander Dupetit-Thouars in Taïti and about Mr. Reine, lieutenant of ship, in Paris". "They love wine passionately.
