In this excellent study, Clot-Bey devotes a chapter to slavery in the East: white slaves, black slaves, the condition of slaves, female slaves, the conduct of Europeans towards their slaves in Egypt, excerpts from books of Muslim law relating to slavery, the slave trade and the emancipation of slaves.
