An ancient classic pendant depicting an eagle or a bat, holding a prey in its mouth. For another pendant (described as an eagle) also holding prey in its mouth, in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, see: Gold of the Americas, ed. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2002, reproduced on p. 45. Chiriqui culture, approximately 1000 to 1500 AD, Panama or Costa Rica Silver and gold alloy, lost wax casting, visible restorations notably at the neck and two suspension rings added at the back, otherwise old patina.
