A voodoo piquet sculpture of bewitchment and control carved with two male and female figures back to back, bound, and both wearing slave irons. The commentary on this work on page 40 of the catalog of the Voodoo exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, reminds us that slavery was practiced locally and on a large scale in the region until the middle of the 19th century.
