FRANCE ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOR (1802) Commander's star of the Second Empire period, attributed to Colonel VERLY, commander of the squadron of the Hundred Guards. Gold and enamel (tiny hair). Hallmark eagle head and goldsmith Ouizille Lemoine. Hanger for snap hook sewn to the tie. Pleated tie with loop. With old identification label (of the same type as those of the Laissus collection). 87 x 59 mm - Gross weight : 41 g T.T.B. Related work: - From the Laissus collection, we find a commander's star that belonged to Colonel VERLY, with a very similar cross attachment system. The jewel is in vermeil. Reproduced in the book " Cent gardes pour un Empereur ", fig 168 (reproduced), p.327. The sale of the souvenirs of Colonel Verly (1946) did not include any orders of knighthood. Colonel VERLY was named Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1869.
