Type 20 Aircraft Watch mounted as a desk clock
Blackened steel aviation watch with mechanical movement - Round case in a square plate, rotating bezel for winding the watch and setting the time, screw-down caseback.
- Black dial, luminescent painted Arabic numerals, luminescent cathedral hands, small seconds at 6 o'clock.
The watch is mounted in a wooden stand with a movable spherical central part. (not original).
Case, dial and movement signed.
Movement: hand-wound mechanical.
Diameter: 65 mm (of the watch).
Joël Duval indicates that Zenith received a special order from the French army in 1939 for these "aircraft" watches.
These watches were intended for integration into the cockpits of military aircraft, and had to meet the strict specifications of "type 20" watches.
Condition report:
Good general condition, scratches from use and patina on the wood, the watch is working at the time of the appraisal, with no guarantee of functioning over time, a service recommended.
