Eighteenth century binding. Red morocco, gilt decoration, triple fillet in frame, long spine decorated with grotesque, vertical titling, gilt edges.

One of the first monographs on ophthalmology in which the author tries to explain the cause of the variety of eye colors. The ideas of Aristotle and Galen on the structure of the eye are then discussed. Simone Porzio (1496-1554) taught medicine in Pisa from 1546 to 1552. He professed absolute materialism and denied immortality to the soul.
