Denise BELLON (1902-1999). Portrait of Salvador Dali wearing his mannequin before the opening of the International Surrealist Exhibition at the Galerie Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1938. Original silver gelatin print, signed and titled in red ink "BELLON, n° 6.709" on the back of the print, stamped "Images stamp "Images et textes" and handwritten mention "Tirage vendu aux éditions Robert Laffont". Height : 17 - Width : 17 17 - Width : 17,5 cm The International Exhibition of Surrealism, organized by André Breton and Paul Eluard, was held in January and February 1938 at the Galerie Beaux-Arts, 140 rue du Faubourg Saint-honoré. The original poster of the exhibition states that the Mannequins of the House P.L.E.M. are dressed by Yves Tanguy, André Masson, Kurt Seligmann, Sonia Mossé, Hans Arp, Oscar Dominguez, Leo Malet, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miro, Marcel Jean, Man Ray, Espinoza, Matta Echaurren, Maurice Henry and Salvador Dalí. On the photograph: the mannequin dressed by Yves Tanguy is to the right of Dali and that of Man Ray to his left. The mannequin "dressed" by Salvador Dali was photographed thereafter by Man Ray and Raoul Ubac. Expert : Mister Yves Di Maria.
