Jean METZINGER (1883-1956). Preparatory study for "The Woman with a Glass". Ink on pencil lines signed with the artist's stamp in the lower right corner. Apocryphal mentions on the back. Height : 24,2 24,2 - Width : 18,3 cm (small folds) History : Study for the painting "Woman with a Glass", put on deposit by the Centre Pompidou (inventory number AM 3022 P) at the Museum of Modern Art in Troyes. Provenance: - Given by Suzanne Phocas, wife of the painter, to Jacqueline Plessis Bernadac (producer of a documentary on Jean Metzinger). - By succession to the current owner. The work will be included in the Catalogue Raisonné of the Work of Jean Metzinger currently being prepared by the Metzinger Committee (Marc Ottavi, Raphaël Maket, Marek Mielniczuk). A certificate of authenticity will be given to the buyer dating the work to 1950.
