Description

CAMBODIA. Openwork and chased silver offering box, the lower part openworked with sixteen busts of apsara in front, hands in namaskara mudra (gesture of prayer), the foot openworked with fourteen busts of apsara. The five-sided lid is decorated with lotus flowers in their foliage and five kurtimuka masks. Around 1900. Height : 39 cm. 39 cm - Weight : 405 g (slight dents and missing parts) Provenance: Former collection of the governor of French Indochina Albert Sarraut (1911-1914; 1917-1919) then by descent.
