INDIA, GUJARAT. Important statue of Krishna with four arms in polychrome wood, seated against the buffalo Nandi on a rectangular lotus-shaped base. He is adorned with rich jewels, his headdress raised into a high bun and surmounted by a lotus flower, the forehead adorned with the urna (third eye). The arms are raised playing the flute, protected by the seven-headed naga serpent forming a canopy. Early 20th century.
