AUGUSTE MOREAU (1834-1917), ATTRIBUE

The child fisherman Large proof in bronze with brown patina, represented standing on an anchor and resting on a marble base with ornamentation of garland of flowers in gilt bronze. Dimensions: h. total 59 cm Sculptor of groups, characters and figures, he was a student of his namesake, Mathurin Moreau, from whom he drew inspiration throughout his career. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1961 and continued to take an active part in the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member until 1910, the year in which he appeared with a marble entitled "Saint-Jean et le Message". He is also known for his lighting fixtures, ceramics, a few drawings and beautiful clock decorations and fireplace trimmings. Main museums: several works in the Museums of Fine Arts of Bordeaux and Troyes, Museum of Art and Archaeology Périgueux.
