Signed 'Picasso' in pencil lower right and numbered '17/180' lower left. Frontispiece to the book: 'Recordant el Dr. Reventós', Gustavo Gili, Barcelona 1969.The small-format drypoint etching by Pablo Picasso from 1951 shows the young Geneviève Laporte, who became Picasso's muse and lover. Picasso dedicated several works to her with her as a model.The print 'Femme assise en tailleur: Geneviève Laporte' illustrates Picasso's virtuoso handling of the line. Geneviève Laporte is portrayed seated in profile, with her gaze turned toward the viewer. Her legs are crossed and her head rests on her hand. The distinctly darker area around her head directs the viewer's gaze and emphasizes her soft facial features. Picasso, on the other hand, skilfully drew the rest of her body with only a few strokes. Min. browned, partly stained, minimal foxing. Framed in passepartout and behind glass (unopened). Literature: Baer 888, Bloch 1837. Expertise: With invoice of the Merkus Gallery, Baden-Baden (1978).
