Statuette in gilded bronze representing
Tsongkhapa, scholar and Buddhist master of the 14th century, founder of the Gelugpa school. The lama is seated in vajrasana on a double lotiform base, wearing a monastic robe with delicately incised borders falling in elegant folds. His hands are in dharmachakra mudra in front of his torso, holding two long floral stems stretching to his shoulders and supporting his attributes, the sword and the book. He is wearing the traditional hat of the Gelugpa school. The face is delicately incised, the expression benevolent.
The base is sealed and incised with a representation of a double vajra.
