CHINE POUR LE VIETNAM DYNASTIE NGUYEN, XIXe SIÈCLE

= Large blue-white porcelain bowl decorated with dragon and phoenix among the clouds, flying over the tumultuous waves. The lip and the foot circled with metal. The base with a Nhat ("Sun") mark in blue underglaze. D. 19 cm PROVENANCE Probably acquired at the sale "Art of Vietnam: Collection de S.A.I. le prince Bao Long et à divers", Hôtel des ventes Drouot, Paris, Wednesday 22 November 1995, Binoche study. French private collection, then by descent. NOTE Porcelains bearing the Nhat mark were often destined for the imperial palace, for the use of the second emperor of the Nguyen dynasty, Minh Mang (1791 - 1841). CONDITION REPORT A see-through crack starting from the rim, few scratches, condition of the porcelain under the mount not guaranteed.
