THE DAYTONA MYTH The Daytona has been the Geneva company's legendary watch since 1963, and this year celebrates its 60th anniversary. The name "Daytona" refers to the Daytona Beach motor race in Florida. This event brought together the crème de la crème of racing drivers at the beginning of the 20th century. Paul Newman contributed to the model's success, immortalizing it in the 1969 film Virages, directed by James Coldstone. The latest chronograph update, in 2016, introduces the famous black ceramic (LN) bezel instead of steel. The contrast with its white background earns it the affectionate nickname "Panda". On March 27, 2023, Rolex announced the replacement of this model, making it a historic collector's item whose value is set to follow that of its predecessors.
