Autograph letter from Cardinal GERLIER, Archbishop of Lyon. Enclosed: A period photograph of the Curé d'Ars on his deathbed, who died on August 4, 1859. Some foxing in the margins, very good condition. 13 by 9.5 cm for the photo, large frame around it. A current book enriched by a rare mailing, and an even rarer photograph Le Curé d'Ars refused to be photographed. This mortuary photo is the only one we have of him.
