Description

[Manuscript] Anonymous: Traité de géométrie. Part 1: Theory of geometry. 1769. One volume. 14.5 by 21.3 cm. Frontispiece-479 pages, followed by 15 folding plates. Contemporary full marbled calf, 5-rib spine, ornate boards, havana title page. Small loss at lower headpiece, small 5 mm split at top of upper spine, discreet black stain at top of 1st board, otherwise very good condition. Very fresh interior, text double-framed. Ink stain on top of plates, but no damage to figures. Small tears, one of which is missing in the margins of 3 plates, the paper having been weakened by the ink. Otherwise very good condition inside. Very legible writing. This first volume deals with the theory of geometry, including solid bodies and rectilinear trigonometry. The second part (missing here) dealt with practical geometry. Dedication by the author to Mr de MASSINGY, on the drawn frontispiece.
