ÉRASME (Didier): Apophtegmatum opus cum primis frugiferum (). Lyon, Sébastien Gryphe, 1547. One volume. 7 by 11.5 cm. 908-(20 index) pages. Full calf, 4-nerved spine, ornate caissons (slightly later binding). Joints superficially split, without affecting the solidity of the work, and one corner worn, otherwise good condition of the binding. Title page soiled, with small paper loss at bottom margin, but not missing. An ink stain on three pages, light wetness on the lower part of a few leaves, otherwise very decent condition of the text. Reprint of the posthumous edition of 1537, in which the Franc-comtois Gilbert Cousin, Erasmus' secretary and friend until 1535, collaborated. The dedication is that of the original edition, printed in Basel in 1531. The title bears the Gryphe mark.
