Letter from Frederick William I, King of Prussia Margrave and Elector of Brandenburg (1688 Cölln to 1740 Potsdam), the legendary "Soldier King" and father of Frederick the Great to the Lieutenant General von Marwitz, ".... I have seen from your letter of 30 June and the monthly list that everything in your regiment is still in good condition. The addressee is probably Major General Heinrich Karl von der Marwitz (1680 Sellin to 1744 Breslau), from 1720 a member of the Prussian Tobacco College of the Soldier King and from 1724 Chief of the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment "von Dönhoff" in Halberstadt, appointed Knight of the "Order of the Black Eagle" in 1739, given on 4 June 1738 in Potsdam, and from 4 June 1738 on the Order of the Black Eagle. June 1738 in Potsdam and signed by the King, condition due to age on laid paper, dimensions 20 x 23 cm.
