The verso gilt and with nekogaki (‘cat scratches’). LENGTH 9.6 cm WEIGHT 32.2 g Condition: Very good condition with only minor wear and small losses to the gilding along the edge of the verso.

The iron tsuba of naga-marugata shape, worked in sukashi and takabori with gold, silver and suaka (refined copper) takazogan, depicting Samurai engaged in combat, signed Soheishi Nyudo, Soten sei (Made by Soten with the Soheishi Nyudo title). The kozuka worked on a nanako ground with gold, suaka, and shibuichi takazogan, depicting two figures on horseback, signed on the back Goto Kaijo with the artist’s kakihan (cursive monogram). The shibuichi fuchi and kashira worked on a nanako ground with gold, silver, and shakudo takazogan depicting samurai engaging in battle. The two menuki each cast as a seated archer. Tsuba SIZE 7.4 x 6.9 cm, Kashira LENGTH 3.8 cm, kozuka LENGTH 9.4 cm, menuki LENGTH 3.2 cm WEIGHT total 181.2 g Condition: All in good condition with typical surface wear, slight rusting to the tsuba, and small nicks to the kozuka.
