The Creation. The first three books of Genesis followed by the Adamic Genealogy. Literal translation of the Semitic texts by M. le docteur J.-C. Mardrus. Paris, Gonin et Cie, 1928. In-folio, in sheets, filled cover, in brown cloth folder and tan morocco case (Modern English binding). First edition of the translation by Dr. Mardrus. The illustration includes the cover and 42 color compositions, including 12 hors texte, woodcuts by François-Louis Schmied after Gustave Miklos, and 107 typographical ornaments in the text. Edition at 175 copies, numbered and signed, plus 20 copies of collaborators. RECTIFICATION: This copy was enriched with a colour drawing on tracing paper which IS NOT PREPARATORY TO THIS BOOK BUT to an illustration of the Book of the Truth of the Word and a sample suite, in black, of all the engravings (42 plates and 107 ornaments).
